ResNet employees will employ a "best effort" approach to fix any issues students have with Windows 95, 98, and Millennium Edition. ResNet cannot guarantee connectivity or the ability to solve problems associated with Operating Systems no longer supported by Microsoft.

Technical Support for the Windows 95, 98 and Millennium Operating Systems covers many different areas. To fully configure your computer for the ResNet service follow all the steps listed below. If you have any difficulties please follow our support process to contact an RCC.

Resetting your network identification

Right-click Network Neighborhood Click Properties Click the Identification tab Next to Computer Name, type your ULID (University ID). Your University ID is the same as the first part of your Illinois State University e-mail address. Example: ulid@ilstu.edu. Next to Workgroup, type ADILSTU Click the Configuration tab

Opening and Installing your Network Connection

If Client for Microsoft Networks is not on your list of components: Click Add On the left side of this window click Microsoft On the right side of the window click Client for Microsoft Networks and click OK If TCP/IP is not on your list of components: Click Add On the left side of this window click Microsoft On the right side of the window click TCP/IP and click OK

Configuring Your IP Address

To configure TCP/IP to use ResNet, click TCP/IP and Properties Click the IP Address tab and the Obtain an IP address automatically option

Configuring Your WINS Settings

Click the WINS Configuration tab and the Use DHCP for WINS Resolution option

Configuring Your Gateway Settings

Click the Gateway tab and remove any entries in the Installed Gateways box

Click the DNS Configuration tab and the Disable DNS option

Click OK twice You may be prompted to insert your Windows CD depending on the options you have selected. Once your computer has finished copying files the necessary files, you will be prompted to reboot your computer. Once you reboot, your computer will be properly configured to use ResNet.
