Port Usage Agreement
Users who want ResNet access must abide by ALL of the following conditions for the jack they are registered to. Violations of any of these conditions may result in you being blocked from connectivity to the campus network and the Internet. Any abuse of these conditions may result in a referral to Student Dispute Resolution Services for disciplinary action.
- I will abide by the Appropriate Use Policy established by Illinois State University. Click here to review this policy.
- I understand that the network may be temporarily unavailable, network access may be limited during maintenance periods, and bandwidth restrictions may apply to certain applications.
- I have followed the instructions in Step 1 - Securing My Computer for the ResNet registration process including installing latest OS patches, and checking and installing the Illinois State University Network Security Suite.
- I understand that I may only plug one computer at a time into the Ethernet jack in my room or elsewhere on campus and that I may not connect other devices such as an Ethernet hub, print server, switch, router, or wireless access point.
- I will not engage in activities which disrupt network activities for others and I am responsible for any activities that have occurred through my registered Ethernet jack while connected to the network.
- I understand that the network will be scanned by University staff routinely to locate viruses or unprotected systems throughout the campus network.
- I understand that completing this registration form will cause the Ethernet jack to which I am connected to be billed to my account.
- I will not run a "server" of any kind on this computer for the distribution of copyrighted material.
- I will always configure my computer to use DHCP to obtain a dynamic IP address.
- I will not attempt to alter, change, or modify any software installed during the ResNet registration process.
